About the South Broadway Englewood BID

Established as a center of commerce in the 1800’s, the South Broadway Mile is managed by the South Broadway Englewood Business Improvement District (BID). The BID was established in 2007 to serve as the business support, marketing and advocacy group for the area. A quasi-governmental entity, the South Broadway Englewood BID supports businesses and property owners within the district boundaries--including the commercial properties facing South Broadway between Yale and Hampden. The BID was formed through a special assessment to fund programming overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors responsible for a variety of services including:

Art in Public Places:

The South Broadway Mile area is home to several pieces of outdoor art, thanks to the City of Englewood “Art in Public Places” program. The program allocates one percent of the City of Englewood’s Capital Improvement Budget for public artwork.
One iconic piece, Virere by Lawrence Argent, is located designated the entry to the South Broadway Mile on Broadway at Yale Ave. Additional sculptures using similar materials are found in planters throughout the district.

2011 Event Highlight:

A music event as authentic as the neighborhood where it will be held, Eats & Beats is a new summer outdoor concert featuring Nathaniel Rateliff and The Samples as well as a host of bands set to entertain on the South Broadway Mile on June 25, 2011. A free event, Eats & Beats will feature live music, bites and meals for a range of taste buds and cool beverages from a few of our favorite local breweries and wineries.
